The idea
Given that SVG exports can often not reflect the layout of an FMG map (labels in particular), could we have a feature added to exports that would allow us to export certain layers (or layer combos) to a PNG file with transparency?
For example, I'd like to be able to export a base PNG file that has the landmasses & waterways (this PNG would have no transparency). Then I want to export labels for States to their own PNG (and only State labels with transparency). And then export another PNG with transparency for the Burg labels. Other layers that could work this way would be borders, element coloring (like State, Province, Culture, Religions, Biomes, or Goods), Relief Icons, Markers, Military units, and so on.
Why
Because the SVG exports are not quite able to support importing in to Illustrator or Inkscape, it is no easy task to get a set of exports from FMG with elements split in to layers, so you can enable/disable various elements.
In my specific case, I was hoping to be able to create a set of layered PNG files to use with the TTRPG Tools - Maps plugin. That plugin can make use of image files and overlays that can appear or hide based on zoom levels (much in the same fashion as FMG itself). If I could get a simple and clean method of exporting elements with transparency, that appeared nearly or exactly as they do in FMG itself, I could then set up the Maps plugin to act in a similar fashion within Obsidian as the map does in FMG.
The process could be automated (as in one click would then export a batch of PNG files with & without transparency based on layer types) OR it could be a more manual thing (where the user could toggle on a special layer that would block items that are not wanted) and then the PNG export could apply transparency in place of that special layer (imagine something akin to a "green screen" layer, where everything green is saved as transparent and all layers "above" that green layer are retained).
