The idea
Currently, if you place an Obsidian URL link (to a note within an Obsidian vault) in a note or other field that allows text in FMG, it gets turned in to a link that only opens a blank web page.
It would nice to be able to paste a link that started with ""obsidian://open?vault=..." and have it be allowed to open a specific note in Obsidian.
Even cooler would be to add a secondary URL for every element (Burgs, States, Provinces, and so on - in addition to the map preview links we already have) where one could enter an Obsidian URL prefix and then have the element's name be appended to that URL so that each element could have a URL to an Obsidian note on your local system baked in to those elements (requiring almost no effort on the part of the user to allow for a connection between FMG and Obsidian. This URL prefix could be stored in the settings page, for instance, since each person's Obidian URLs will point to a different location on their local machine.
Currently, you can get it to work but only if you edit the HTML version of a note and manually paste the Obsidian url in place of the "about:blank" code that ends up in the note text. Just pasting the Obsidian URL in to the note (in non-HTML editing mode) will only ever create the link and replace the Obsidian URL with "about:blank".
Why
Currently, in order to get the elements from an FMG map over to Obsidian, it involves a lengthy and convoluted process involving JSON exports, and multiple image file exports to bring the FMG content to an Obsidian vault.
If there could be an integration through the Obsidian URL that already exists in Obsidian and web browsers, then it would allow for a more seamless and less painful method to connect Obsidian with FMG content.
