Lattice2 Polar Array doesn't work the same as a linear array in Part Design workbench

In the above picture I worked hard to try to keep the two bodies similar. I made one hole in the top surface and one in the front surface. The linear array was created by selecting the front edge (between the two modified faces) and selecting a linear array. This worked just fine with no tweaking. Select the two holes and the array and bingo, you have holes. The polar array - used the same way as far as I can tell - doesn't give a usable result. I selected the front edge between the two modified faces and selected polar array. This seemed to work fine. You select the two holes and the polar array and you get a "LatticePattern" result, but it doesn't actually copy anything. I haven't touched any variables - I tried to keep both processes as plain vanilla as I could. Is it the curve that causes the problem? Even if I just pick the hole on the front it won't produce an array that I can see.

Am I doing something wrong?

it is likely that the array is going the wrong way, and the replicated holes are in the air to the left. Look at where the first kite is - that is the kite the hole is associated with, not the nearest one.

Also, you can have a look at what's going on by switching "Debug" property of the LatticePattern. This will disable the boolean operation, and just show all the shapes that it is trying to work with.

I tried selecting 'Flip X' which turned the kites over, and I thought that might help, but it didn't. I got the same result. I tried changing the 'orient mode' to 'vortex' because the kites then looked more like the linear pattern ones did (which worked) but that gave me no result as well.
I then tried the Debug option that you suggested, and that showed me that YES, the holes were appearing in the air beside my part. I don't understand why the holes don't follow where the kites are. By this I mean that the linear array worked just as I would expect that it would. Everything was done the same way... I created the first holes at the left end of it, selected the edge, and it made holes from left to right. The polar version in the same circumstances made the holes from right to left off of the part and out in empty space. I find this confusing.

Edit: I just found the 'reverse array' selector. I'm good. I'd still really like to see a 'pad' option for each end, though.
