balloonStyle 'popups' in KML layer placemarks?

Are balloonStyle 'popups' in KML layer placemarks supported? I got KML files to load as layers by referencing the bible-atlas as a guide, but haven't had any luck getting placemark balloons to work. If they are not supported, than I'll go ahead and suggest them here as a potential enhancement.
