I had the same itch — kept SSHing into my machine from my phone to check on Codex sessions and it was miserable. Ended up building a tool called CodeVibe that sidecars onto Codex CLI and streams the session to an iOS / Android app over encrypted events. You can see what the agent is doing, answer approval prompts with the file diff right on your phone, and send follow-up messages — all without disrupting the desktop session. Desktop and mobile stay active at the same time. Also works with Claude Code and Gemini CLI if you use multiple agents. |

Any community reactions to codevibe? |

Author of CodeVibe here. iOS app launched April 5 (Android shipped a couple weeks earlier), so ~6 weeks of organic usage. Snapshot:
What's working: power users running long Codex sessions and approving / redirecting from somewhere else. What I want next: a desktop session pin, group chats, longer history for free tier — still being figured out, not committed. One thing I've noticed since OpenAI's Codex Desktop mobile companion announcement (5/14): it's a different surface — controls the Desktop GUI, not the CLI. For VM / SSH / headless setups, the CLI is still where most heavy users live. |

Now Windows when? |

Does remote control Android -> Windows work for anybody? |
|
Yeah, current offering still lacks the ability to control Codex using a web browser like Anthropic's claude.ai (https://claude.ai/code), which brings up an active session by just clicking on it in the list. FFS, how hard can it be to fix this simple request??? |

Not remote control from OpenAI, but for the browser-based version of this that @Boilerplate4u describes (a list of live sessions, click one, it's still running where you left it) a local session manager gets you there today. I wrote it, so take this with that in mind: https://github.com/oddessentials/agent-guild How it works: a small manager on the machine owns the PTYs, and a local web page shows one terminal per session. Close the tab or lock the laptop and the sessions keep running. Remote access is a Tailscale route to that page, so from a phone you scan a QR code once and then open the same list of sessions. Codex, Claude Code, Antigravity, Grok Build and plain shells all appear side by side, which matters if you are already running more than one of them. On the "Android -> Windows when?" question: that is the combination my teammate uses most. Windows host, Android phone and tablet over Tailscale, Codex CLI in the terminal. Touch keys for Tab, Ctrl+C and Esc are there because the Android keyboard does not have them. Personally, I use on iphone. It is eleven days old and MIT. There is a simulated demo in the browser if you want to see the page without installing anything: https://oddessentials.github.io/agent-guild/ |

Useful thread — especially the “Android → Windows” ask. Disclosure: I work on DTworkeasy Bridge (Dongfutong / www.dtrony.com). Different shape from full remote-desktop / PTY-web tools: a tray-resident PC bridge + phone app QR pairing, aimed at driving local Codex / Cursor / BFBT Code agents without living in SSH+tmux. If your pain is “keep the host agent running, check/steer from Android while Windows stays at the desk”, that pairing flow is what we ship:
Happy to compare notes with folks using CodeVibe / agent-guild / Tailscale setups — interested what “good enough” looks like for Codex CLI approvals on a phone. |

Uh oh!

How far up the roadmap is remote control?
I have been using farfield for remote control of my WSL codex instances, and it's just not very good and GPT-5.4 xhigh is not yet good enough to make it work well. Claude code does it, apparently well.
I understand that #9224 exists and I have upvoted. This discussion is intended to extract a forecast of wen from OAI staff, to assist the open source community in whether they should invest the time in making the current tools good.
