Pryzael

Portable engineering workflows for ChatGPT, Codex, and other Agent Skills/MCP-compatible clients, adapted from selected pstack skills.

Pryzael keeps each skills/<name>/SKILL.md as the canonical workflow source and exposes the same workflows through two projections:

  • Agent Skills for clients that natively load skills;
  • read-only remote MCP tools served by a stateless Cloudflare Worker.

The MCP layer is a generated adapter, not a second workflow implementation.

Skills

  • how — build a working mental model of how a subsystem, feature flow, or ownership boundary currently works.
  • why — investigate historical/product/operational rationale and separate evidence from inference.
  • architect — settle caller usage, data shapes, invariants, interfaces, and ownership before implementation.
  • blast-radius — find non-obvious downstream breakage and prove the safety assumptions a change depends on.
  • figure-it-out — orchestrate large, cross-cutting, unusual, or multi-phase work around falsifiable completion criteria.
  • show-me-your-work — keep an auditable decision/evidence/result trail for handoffs and long work.
  • interrogate — adversarially review a diff, PR, exact commit, or design and separate real findings from noise.
  • fix-root-causes — reproduce failures, trace violated invariants, and repair the defect class rather than one symptom.
  • sequence-verifiable-units — split multi-step work into independently checkable transitions and verify before advancing.
  • prove-it-works — verify completion claims against the exact artifact and strongest available real behavior path.

Specialized pstack-derived procedures such as TDD, verification-harness creation/maintenance, and architecture design-space principles are kept as owner-local resources instead of becoming extra MCP tools. See docs/PSTACK_INTEGRATION.md.

Runtime shape

.codex-plugin/plugin.json
skills/*/SKILL.md canonical workflow authority
skills/*/references/* progressive-disclosure procedures
scripts/generate_mcp_catalog.mjs build-time projection
worker/index.mjs stateless Streamable HTTP MCP
wrangler.jsonc Cloudflare Workers deployment
package.json

Before Wrangler bundles the Worker, scripts/generate_mcp_catalog.mjs reads all canonical Skill packages and emits an ephemeral JavaScript catalog under worker/generated/. The version is derived from .codex-plugin/plugin.json; the Worker test derives its expected version/tool count from that generated catalog, avoiding separate hand-maintained copies.

The deployed Worker needs no filesystem, database, KV, D1, Durable Object, background process, OpenAI API call, or local PC.

The Worker exposes:

  • /mcp — stateless MCP Streamable HTTP endpoint;
  • /health — small service/version/tool-count health response.

Each MCP tool description comes from the matching SKILL.md frontmatter, and its result returns that Skill body. Text resources under a Skill's references/, assets/, or scripts/ directory are bundled at build time and can be requested on demand through the same tool.

The runtime uses Cloudflare's minimal stateless MCP path directly through @modelcontextprotocol/server; it does not require the Agents SDK or Cloudflare-specific TypeScript definitions.

See docs/MCP.md and ARCHITECTURE.md.

Capability admission

Do not add a new top-level tool merely because an upstream Skill exists. First ask whether the capability is already owned, can be an owner-local resource, or is already supplied by a host App/tool. For consequential choices, compare deletion/reuse, foundational redesign, and at least one structurally different architecture before adoption. Prefer stateless/generated shapes until evidence requires more moving parts.

The detailed adoption matrix is in docs/PSTACK_INTEGRATION.md.

Authority boundary

Each skill remains independently valid:

skills/<name>/
  SKILL.md
  references/ optional
  assets/ optional
  scripts/ optional
  LICENSE.pstack.txt

The name, description, and workflow body in SKILL.md remain authoritative. Do not hand-maintain a second copy in Worker code. MCP routing metadata and workflow content are regenerated from these files at build/deploy time.

The MCP server itself performs no repository mutation or downstream tool action. If a returned Pryzael workflow calls for GitHub, browser, filesystem, or execution capabilities, those remain capabilities of the active ChatGPT/Codex host.

Cloudflare deployment

Pryzael targets a stateless Cloudflare Worker so ChatGPT can reach the MCP endpoint without a local machine or tunnel. Cloudflare Workers Builds can connect directly to this GitHub repository and deploy on push.

The endpoint remains intentionally read-only and unauthenticated while it exposes only public Pryzael workflow material. Authentication should be added only if the threat model or future write/private-data capabilities require it.

See docs/MCP.md for deployment and qualification.

Development and validation

Use package scripts as the command authority. This avoids documentation drift when an underlying validator implementation changes filename or language.

Validate canonical Skill-package invariants:

npm run validate:skills

The upstream Agent Skills validator remains part of R1 qualification; it may also be run independently when available, for example against a specific Skill package.

Run the repository qualification chain after dependency installation:

npm run check

npm run check currently runs HEAD semantic-authority qualification, R1 structural qualification, and R4 Lab qualification in sequence. R1 regenerates and verifies the derived MCP catalog, exercises Worker protocol behavior, and performs the Wrangler deployment dry-run. Passing local/static checks still does not prove a live Cloudflare endpoint or ChatGPT product-surface behavior.

See docs/DEVELOPMENT.md for the contributor decision flow, exact-artifact discipline, and which authority applies to each change class.

Distribution and provenance

Unless a file states otherwise, Pryzael-authored source code and documentation are licensed under the MIT License in LICENSE.

Selected Skill materials are adapted from the MIT-licensed Cursor pstack plugin. The upstream copyright and MIT notice are preserved in THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md and in each independently distributable Skill folder as LICENSE.pstack.txt.

The root Pryzael license does not replace third-party attribution. See docs/DISTRIBUTION.md for full-repository, standalone-Skill, generated-artifact, and qualification-material distribution boundaries.
