AminMahpour/README.md

Hi, I'm Amin Mahpour

I'm a computational biologist and biochemist based in Boston, MA. I build practical tools for biological data analysis, scientific visualization, and AI-assisted research workflows.

My work sits at the intersection of biology, software engineering, and data-intensive analysis. I am especially interested in tools that make complex biological datasets easier to explore, visualize, and reason about.

Current Focus

  • Computational biology and genomics tooling
  • Scientific Python workflows for biological data analysis
  • Data visualization for genomic tracks and biological signals
  • Local-first AI agents for research and development workflows
  • Reproducible, practical software for scientists

Featured Projects

  • ChainAgents - A local-first LangChain Deep Agent behind a Chainlit UI, built around agentic AI workflows, MCP, and reusable skills.
  • Chroma - A dependency-free color & gradient picker in a single HTML file: canvas color wheel with harmony overlays, OKLab gradients, WCAG contrast checking, and PNG/SVG export (live demo).
  • webPlasmid - A dependency-free, browser-based plasmid viewer: circular maps with strand-aware feature arrows, primers, and restriction sites; reads SnapGene .dna and GenBank files or fetches records straight from NCBI (live demo).

Previous Projects

  • Wigman - Python tools for generating heatmap plots from genomic BigWig data.
  • IsoKall - Iso-Seq and Kallisto integration for RNA-seq workflows.
  • PyMAP - A Python package for methylation analysis of probes.
  • pyCircs - Tools for circRNA analysis.
