Getting Started

Prerequisites

First install Docker if you don't already have it.

Running the container

To build the Docker container:

  • cd to the install/ folder
  • docker build --no-cache -t iznik:dev ./ to build the container.
  • docker run -v mysql-data:/var/lib/mysql --restart unless-stopped --add-host=dns.google:8.8.8.8 -dit -p 1022:22 --name iznik-server iznik:dev to start the container

Building the container checks out the code from github, so it will be up to date.

Accessing the container

To access the container:

  • ssh to port 1022 using root/password, or
  • docker exec -it iznik-server bash (to get access directly)

Final setup

Much of the UT uses the GeoIP database. This now needs a user/key to access. Get a copy and put GeoLite2-Country.mmdb in /var/lib/GeoIP.

A couple of tests require a valid Mapbox API key - edit this into /etc/iznik.conf.

Test Config

  • There is a single test group, centred on Edinburgh.
  • There's a single valid postcode, EH3 6SS, which is in that area.
  • There's a test user with an email of test@test.com and a password of freegle.

Notes / Restrictions

A few things to note:

  • This server is HTTP only, no SSL. Some of the code (e.g. user profiles) assumes HTTPS and so those won't load. TODO.
  • This is a stripped down version of what's present on the live servers. Key differences: ** Single server set up - it's crying out for Docker Compose. ** No email MTA installed - we don't want to send out mail by mistake. ** No monit or supervisor to keep components up - if in doubt, restart the container.
