Environment Variables for Streamlit Configuration

This App Discovery Parser application is built with Streamlit, which leverages environment variables for various operational settings. While the core application logic does not read custom environment variables, the behavior and deployment of the Streamlit application itself can be configured using the following common variables:

STREAMLIT_SERVER_PORT

  • Purpose: Specifies the network port on which the Streamlit application server will listen for incoming connections. This is useful when deploying the app to a specific port or running multiple Streamlit applications simultaneously on the same host.
  • Example Value: 8501
  • Required/Optional: Optional. Defaults to 8501 if not explicitly set.

STREAMLIT_BROWSER_GATHER_USAGE_STATS

  • Purpose: Controls whether Streamlit sends anonymous usage statistics and telemetry data to the Streamlit team. For production environments or privacy-conscious deployments, it is common practice to disable this by setting it to false.
  • Example Value: false
  • Required/Optional: Optional. Defaults to true if not explicitly set.

STREAMLIT_SERVER_HEADLESS

  • Purpose: Configures the Streamlit server to run in "headless" mode. When set to true, the application server will start without attempting to automatically open a browser window. This is particularly useful for server deployments, CI/CD pipelines, or containerized environments where a graphical interface is not available or desired.
  • Example Value: true
  • Required/Optional: Optional. Defaults to false if not explicitly set.

Note: For local development, these variables can be defined in a .env file in the project root. While the app.py script itself does not explicitly load .env files, this is a common practice in Python projects for managing environment-specific configurations.
