server: shell-completion and version options print initialization noise #56

Description

@am17an

Upstream: ggml-org#29485

Using source <(llama-server --completion-bash) in .bashrc prints a server initialization message whenever a terminal opens.

Confirmed on Spark Linux ARM64 CPU Release, upstream 95887577ab5fead779581a7030a83c7752ff3234; no model needed.

llama-server --completion-bash > completion.sh 2> stderr.txt
cat stderr.txt
llama-server --version

Both commands print I srv llama_server: initializing ...; completion stdout is otherwise a valid completion function. This is unwanted stderr, not demonstrated shell-script corruption.

Cause: the initialization log is emitted before common_params_parse() handles these exit-only options. Upstream reports 1af554f8fc78ba029665a47b839484d9763e2a75 as first bad; not independently bisected.
