For later production use, I'd like to see the feature for Importing and validating XML metadata with source-metadata.csv to be as resilient as possible.

I propose to catch and handle more errors gracefully and extend the unit tests - especially for XML metadata validation - with additional scenarios. I'd like to cover even more edge cases or complex validation variants with test cases. This will also make it more likely to catch behavioral changes in the underlying parser library (currently lxml) very early.
