Why

Both proof ledgers had drifted from the code.

  • PROOF-NEEDS.adoc said PanLL has "no Idris2 files" and listed a "PCC ReScript scanner". In fact the panel-clades ABI has about 1,300 lines of total Idris2 with no escape hatches. The panel-clades-abi CI job enforces this through check-abi.sh.
  • docs/proof-debt.adoc said "(d) Debt: None". But src-gossamer has 15 Rust unsafe sites, and none has a TRUSTED: annotation or a test budget. The standards policy treats those as debt. The estate checker only scans proof languages, not Rust, which is why it passed.

What changes

PROOF-NEEDS.adoc (rewritten):

docs/proof-debt.adoc (same standards schema, headings unchanged):

  • (a)–(c): stay "None". That was already correct, because the ledger records escape hatches, and none was ever discharged, budgeted or axiomatised here. (a) now says why.
  • (d): lists the Rust unsafe sites, grouped by kind: coprocessor libloading, libc::kill in llm_coding and game_preview, statvfs, and gossamer_tray_destroy. The owner is you, and the deadline is INDEFINITE until you decide each group. One entry notes that the coprocessor SAFETY comment relies on copro_free, which currently frees nothing (FFI/ABI stubs: copro_free leaks, clade definitions not stored, Idris callback registration missing, template entrypoint #149).

Verification

  • I checked every lemma name, line number and claim against the code on main (1937c6b).
  • standards' scripts/check-trusted-base.sh still passes. It finds 2 signatures, both documented.
  • The changed files contain no unlinked debt markers (TODO/FIXME).

Docs only; no code changes.

…e tree

PROOF-NEEDS.adoc said PanLL has no Idris2 and listed a "PCC ReScript
scanner". Since #145-#152 the panel-clades ABI has about 1,300 lines of
total Idris2 with no escape hatches, gated in CI by check-abi.sh. The
file now states what each module proves (with lemma names), the three
limits the modules themselves admit to, and what is still owed, with
status and tracking issue. Items that depend on the removed ReScript
frontend (PCC soundness, dashboard, wiring) are marked blocked on #148.

docs/proof-debt.adoc keeps the standards schema. (a)-(c) stay empty,
which was already correct: the ledger records escape hatches, and none
was ever discharged, budgeted or axiomatised here. (d) said "None", but
src-gossamer has 15 Rust `unsafe` sites at FFI and syscall boundaries
with no TRUSTED: annotation or test budget. The estate checker does not
scan Rust, so it passed; they are now listed by kind for an owner
decision, including the copro_free leak (#149) that contradicts the
coprocessor SAFETY comment.

standards' check-trusted-base.sh still passes (2 signatures, both
documented).

Four workflows on this PR fail at startup with 0 jobs: Governance, Hypatia Security Scan, Secret Scanner and Rust CI. The cause isn't in this PR, which changes only two .adoc files.

Error (run annotation): Invalid workflow file … error parsing called workflow … hyperpolymath/standards/.github/workflows/governance-reusable.yml@75bd599…: workflow was not found. rust-ci-reusable.yml@412a703 fails the same way.

Cause: hyperpolymath/standards has been transferred to metadatastician/standards. Git and the web UI still redirect, and both pinned commits are still on its main. But PanLL's workflows name the old owner, and actions.lock records owner_id: 6759885. GitHub's lockfile check rejects a pin whose repository has moved.

  • rsr-template-repo traced the same failure in its #253, and its record shows the new owner_id: 297579217.
  • Every caller of the standards reusables is affected, on main too. Today's scheduled Scorecard run on main failed at startup.

Fix (none exists in PanLL yet): repin the six callers to metadatastician/standards@<current main> and re-close actions.lock against the new owner. That means the PanLL changes from #156 again, plus the new owner. The checks that did run here are all green: Build Validation, panel-clades-abi, Dogfood (K9/DEED), Estate Audit, CodeQL, SonarCloud and Semgrep.

Review on #163 found two overstatements in the reconciled ledgers.

- Both docs said check-abi.sh fails CI on `postulate` and on holes. Its
  keyword scan covered only believe_me, assert_total, assert_smaller,
idris_crash and unsafePerformIO. `postulate` is now in the scan; no
.idr file uses it, so the gate still passes. Holes are not scanned,
and the docs now say so, keeping "no holes" as a dated measurement.
- proof-debt (d) called every entry an `unsafe` block; four are
`unsafe extern "C" fn` type declarations. The wording now covers both.

P2 Badge Add postulates and holes to the CI escape-hatch scan

When an Idris module introduces a postulate or leaves a named hole, this stated CI guarantee is not enforced: panel-clades/scripts/check-abi.sh:50 only greps for believe_me, assert_total, assert_smaller, idris_crash, and unsafePerformIO, while the subsequent build check rejects only Error output. Since these constructs can be accepted as axiomatic or unfinished declarations rather than ordinary type errors, they can evade the gate; extend the scan or narrow this claim.

P2 Badge Record the Idris FFI as trusted-base debt

When the Zig implementation disagrees with an Idris declaration, the typechecker still accepts the wrapper, so these boundaries are part of the trusted base this ledger claims to cover. PanelClades/ABI/Foreign.idr contains 15 %foreign declarations, and PROOF-NEEDS.adoc:83-86 explicitly says that nothing checks the Zig symbols or types, yet none receives a disposition here while Rust FFI boundaries do. Add the Idris FFI assumptions under the appropriate debt/axiom category or narrow the ledger's stated scope.

P2 Badge Add the missing positive-alignment precondition

For any nonempty field list with align = 0, Layout.idr defines alignUnits _ 0 = 0, so calcStructSize fields 0 is 0 while structEnd fields can be positive. The proposed unconditional lower-bound theorem is therefore false, and the runtime check cannot be dropped merely by induction; this item must either require a positive alignment or first change the zero-alignment behavior.

…te enforces (#165)

## Why

#163 auto-merged before the fixes for CodeRabbit's two review findings
were pushed. Both findings were correct:

1. **Major:** `PROOF-NEEDS.adoc` and `docs/proof-debt.adoc` said
`check-abi.sh` fails CI on `postulate` and on holes. Its keyword scan
covered only `believe_me`, `assert_total`, `assert_smaller`,
`idris_crash` and `unsafePerformIO`.
2. **Minor:** the proof-debt (d) section called every entry an `unsafe`
block. Four of them, in `coprocessor/mod.rs`, are `unsafe extern "C" fn`
type declarations.

## What changes

- **`panel-clades/scripts/check-abi.sh`:** `postulate` joins the
escape-hatch scan. No `.idr` file uses it, so the gate still passes.
- **Both ledgers:** they now say exactly what CI enforces (the six
keywords) and that holes are not scanned. "No holes" stays as a
measurement dated 2026-10-26.
- **proof-debt (d):** the wording now covers both blocks and
declarations.

## Verification

- The scan, run locally with the new pattern over
`panel-clades/src/abi/PanelClades/**/*.idr`, finds no hits (exit 1, the
passing case).
- `bash -n` on the script is clean.
- standards' `check-trusted-base.sh` still passes.

**Note:** Governance, Hypatia, Secret Scanner and Rust CI will fail at
startup here, as they do on `main`. `hyperpolymath/standards` was
transferred to `metadatastician/standards`, so the pins no longer
resolve; see the [#163
comment](#163 (comment)).
This PR doesn't cause or fix that.

…164)

## Why

#157 added the IPC table (`src-gossamer/src/ipc.rs`) with only the 10
coprocessor commands as a pilot. The other panel-backend modules
compiled and were tested, but none of their handlers could be called
from the webview. That is `docs/TECHNICAL_DEBT.adoc` F1.

## What

- **`ipc.rs`:** the table now registers all **239** panel-backend
commands, in 43 module groups. With the 36 commands `main.rs` registers
itself, the desktop shell exposes **275**. Each entry follows the
pilot's rules:
- `async fn` handlers run through `block_on`; sync handlers are called
directly. Several sync handlers use `reqwest::blocking`, which must not
run inside a runtime. I checked that no `async fn` handler uses blocking
HTTP.
  - `Option` parameters are optional.
- Struct parameters use `struct_arg`. It accepts a nested object, a
flattened payload, or the struct sent as JSON text; the old frontend
sent `save_arrangement` and `save_session` their struct as a string.
  - An `AppHandle` parameter is supplied by the backend.
- Skipped: `ums_cartridge::validate_level_data`, a helper rather than a
command.
- **Argument check against the old frontend.** I compared every required
argument with the pre-#107 ReScript `invoke()` calls (`git show
7a4f2cf^`). The old frontend sent every one of them, so no further
empty-means-default cases needed `Option` (the pilot's `lib_path` was
the only one).
- **Event pump (`main.rs`).** A `g_timeout_add` callback on the GTK main
thread drains `compat`'s event bus every 50 ms and hands each event to
`gossamer_emit`. The callback only fires inside the event loop, while
the window handle is live. `gossamer_run` frees the handle after the
loop exits, so no tick can run on a freed handle. This is what makes
`ai_send_message_streaming` chunks and `watcher_start` events reach the
webview.
- **New test `every_backend_command_is_registered`.** It scans every
`*/commands.rs`, `*_live.rs` and `workspace/sysinfo.rs`, up to the
unit-test module, and fails if a public handler is reachable from
neither the table nor `main.rs`. This covers the "command dispatch is
total" item in `PROOF-NEEDS.adoc`.
- **Docs:** updated the `Cargo.toml` header, EXPLAINME-new,
TECHNICAL_DEBT (F1 and F2 marked resolved), the CHANGELOG, the
PROOF-NEEDS "IPC dispatch is total" row, and the test counts in README,
EXPLAINME-new and TEST-NEEDS (285 → 294).

## Review follow-ups

Codex raised these, and all were real:
- **JSON-text struct arguments (`6141af7`):** `struct_arg` now parses a
string value as JSON before deserialising it.
- **Event pump (`6141af7`):** the original background thread could call
`gossamer_emit` on a freed handle. It is now the GTK-loop timer
described above.
- **Missing `multiplayer_monitor` (`c38063e`):** its six commands were
not registered, and the test didn't notice. A test-only `TEST_LOCK`
above the handlers made both the generator and the test stop reading the
file there. The test now cuts at `#[cfg(test)] mod tests`. With the
group removed, it fails and lists all six commands.

## Checks

- `cargo fmt --all -- --check`: clean.
- `cargo clippy --locked --all-targets -- -D warnings`: clean.
- `cargo clippy --locked --features gossamer --all-targets -- -D
warnings`: clean. This was a type-check against a stub `libgossamer`.
E2E's Rust job does the real Zig/GTK build, link and test; it passed on
`6141af7`.
- `cargo test --locked --lib`: 294 passed. That includes
`required_arguments_are_enforced`, which sends `{}` to every entry that
has required arguments. All of them reject it before the handler runs,
so the test has no side effects.

## CI not caused by this PR

Rust CI, Governance, Hypatia and Secret Scanner fail at startup on this
PR, and also on #162 and #163 (#163 has since merged); see the comment
below.

## Not tested

- I haven't run the commands end to end in the desktop app. Most of them
call local services (BoJ, VeriSimDB, TypeLL and others) that aren't
running here.
- The event pump hasn't been run in a live webview.
