Parallel Search MCP example (free web search and page fetch, no Parallel API key):

These commands use your normal [CLI API-key setup](#getting-started). Parallel's
[anonymous MCP endpoint](https://docs.parallel.ai/integrations/mcp/search-mcp) needs no
additional key and has lower rate limits than authenticated access. Keep history enabled.

Search for sources and store the excerpts in a dedicated thread:

```shell
chatgpt \
--thread parallel-research \
--mcp "https://search.parallel.ai/mcp" \
--mcp-header "User-Agent: chatgpt-cli" \
--mcp-tool web_search \
--mcp-params '{"objective":"Find the official Go documentation for fuzz testing","search_queries":["Go fuzz testing official documentation"]}'
```

Fetch a page into the same thread:

```shell
chatgpt \
--thread parallel-research \
--mcp "https://search.parallel.ai/mcp" \
--mcp-header "User-Agent: chatgpt-cli" \
--mcp-tool web_fetch \
--mcp-params '{"urls":["https://go.dev/doc/security/fuzz/"],"objective":"Explain how to run a Go fuzz test"}'
```

With no query, these calls store context and exit without calling your LLM. Inspect it
with `chatgpt --show-history parallel-research`. The normal context-window limit applies;
long results can trim earlier messages.

Using `--mcp-params` (raw JSON) instead of multiple `--mcp-param` flags:
