check_changelog rewrites CHANGELOG.md, but it ran even after an earlier check (such as a malformed tag) had already failed, leaving the file promoted on a run that never released. Move the preflight bail-out ahead of the CHANGELOG step so all read-only checks must pass before any file is modified. https://claude.ai/code/session_0187mF1SLDKYAwvRpob7xC6B
The interactive prompt and --full/--build-only/--preflight flags now take a plain version number (e.g. 1.0.6); a normalize_tag helper prepends the "v" so git tags and GitHub releases stay vX.Y.Z, consistent with the repo's existing tags.
