This PR documents the volume image metadata preservation feature introduced in os-migrate/os-migrate#797.

What changed:
OS Migrate now preserves Cinder volume_image_metadata (including hw_firmware_type and hw_machine_type) when migrating workloads. This prevents boot failures for UEFI-based guests (Windows Server 2016+, GPT/ESP Linux) that would otherwise fail with "No bootable device" errors when Nova falls back to SeaBIOS/i440fx defaults.

Documentation added:

  • New section explaining why volume image metadata matters for workload migration
  • Description of the automatic preservation process
  • Troubleshooting steps for operators encountering UEFI boot issues
  • Requirements note regarding admin privileges for setting volume metadata
