Description
When using VimR + VimTeX + Skim on macOS, inverse (reverse) search from Skim consistently opens the target .tex file in a new tab.
Expected behavior
- bring VimR to the foreground
- jump to the correct line
- reuse the existing buffer
It used to work this way until recently
Actual behavior
- VimR is activated
- cursor jumps to the correct line
- a new tab is opened every time and the user is landed at the beginning of the file in the newly opened tab
Environment
- macOS 26.2
- VimR: 0.60.0
- Neovim: v0.11.6
VimTeX: latest
Notes
- Issue persists with clean installs
- Appears to be related to how VimR handles file-opening during inverse search
