This issue tracks progress of bringing confluent into EPEL.

Dependencies for EL9/10

Dependencies need to be part of EPEL as well. As of 07.07.2026 confluent installs the following dependencies:

Details about missing dependencies

python3-webauthn

• Impact: passkey/FIDO2 web-UI login unavailable; all other auth (PAM, certs, API keys) unaffected.
• Possible fix: change Requires: to Recommends: (or package python-webauthn for EPEL later).
• Code: httpapi.py#L27-L30

python3-eficompressor

• Impact: BIOS-settings management on old IMM2-era Lenovo BMCs fails; everything else works.
• Possible fix: drop from the el9 Requires (el10 already dropped it); library is abandoned upstream, don't package.
• Code: aiohmi/ipmi/oem/lenovo/config.py#L30-L35

python3-pycdlib (EL10 only)

• Impact: osdeploy import of UDF-based install media (e.g. Windows, some hybrid ISOs) fails; plain ISO9660 still works via libarchive.
• Possible fix: request an epel10 branch of Fedora's python-pycdlib.
• Code: aiohmi/ipmi/oem/lenovo/config.ppy#L30-L35

python3-sixel

• Impact: no inline terminal images in nodeconsole/stats; purely cosmetic, tools run normally.
• Possible fix: nothing. Leave out of Requires entirely.
• Code: bin/nodeconsole#L52-L61, bin/stats#L26-L32

confluent-genesis blobs (prebuilt binaries)

• Impact: no discovery/servicing boot image; server still manages BMCs and consoles.
• Possible fix: not fixable within EPEL policy (prebuilt, Lenovo-signed EFI binaries) distribute via Lenovo repo/COPR alongside.
• Code: confluent-genesis.spec#L30-L36

python3-libarchive-c-5.1-7 is in EPEL9 now.

Changes have been made to work with pysnmp 7, though pysnmp 7 in epel9 conflicts with the cryptography in epel9...

If you'll notice, pyghmi has been purged from the packaged material in the master branch. The aiohmi rewrite is bundled into the confluent repository.

I'm just about to go through and revise the dependencies, losing some, gaining others. For example we will no longer need eventlet/greenlet/paramiko, but now we will need aiohttp and asyncssh.
