The homepage introduces James through the arms, four illustrated Selected Projects, and four recent Blog cards. Below the hero, eight image-led Subject cards replace text lists, Books/Software/Consulting retain distinct callouts, and four illustrated personal-archive tiles sit on navy. The repeated hero name, What I Do band, and Browse the Work menu duplication are removed.

Uses existing site imagery, including clean high-resolution artwork crops from the CMNA and MDOR covers. Tall viewports use the stacked phone layout, with larger arms on phones and wider portrait displays; seasonal identity layering is preserved.

Validation: content audits, Astro checks, production build, build/link/fragment validation, site acceptance, accessibility DOM scan, and search checks passed. All twelve lower-page cards have valid local imagery and links. Browser visual verification remains pending.

Draft for visual review; main is unchanged.

Superseded by the complete editorial redesign, squash-merged to main in PR #23 (c21dff4).
